Overview

(Contract: 2 Years)

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, you will provide consultative advice on recruitment related activities and compensation issues. This position will work collaboratively with various client groups to provide a full range of Human Resources services with respect to recruitment and compensation matters including:

  • managing the recruitment and selection process for (non-union and union) full time and contract positions from initial posting through to completion of the employee probationary period including employee orientation
  • responding to inquiries and complaints regarding Human Resource issues and career/employment opportunities with the Town
  • maintaining and enhancing a wide range of programs and processes such as salary administration, performance management, Employment Standards Act (ESA) leaves and retirements
  • maintaining the job evaluation program, including the facilitation of meetings, training committee members, coaching line managers and maintaining all job evaluation records
  • conducting compensation and benefits research and analysis, participating in annual market surveys, responding to municipal benchmarking requests, analyzing compensation trends/statistics and making recommendations
  • maintaining the HR database for full-time employees and oversee ADP Workforce Now for the division
  • participating in the development of Human Resources initiatives as appropriate
  • ensuring confidentiality of Human Resource files, documentation and information
  • performing other related duties as assigned to meet departmental or corporate objectives

Qualifications

You possess a university degree in Human Resource Management and a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Human Resources Practitioner (CHRP) designation would be considered an asset. You have a minimum of five (5) years of compensation experience, preferably in a unionized public sector environment.  You have intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel and knowledge of statistical methods including forecasting and modeling and have applied your superior analytical and problem solving skills to address complex issues. Your experience with ADP is an asset. You have a strong client focus and excellent organizational skills and have delivered high quality results in a timely and reliable manner. You have a collaborative approach with strong interpersonal, communication skills and consultation skills with the ability to influence and work effectively in a team environment. You have a sound knowledge of human resources theories, principles, best practices and relevant legislation. You have excellent written and verbal communications skills. You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage.  You have a flexible schedule with the ability to work outside of normal business hours as required. In addition, you must possess a valid class "G" driver’s license and provision of a vehicle for use on the job (mileage compensated) and proof of vehicle insurance is required.
