Richmond Hill values its award winning parks and open spaces. The Parks and Open Space Design Section is looking for a new member to join the team who recognizes and values the importance of design and place making. Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Open Space Design you will primarily assist the Project Managers, Parks and Open Space with the preparation of concepts, master plans and working drawings. Your duties will include site inventory and analysis, research, graphics, landscape design, obtaining quotations, cost estimation and filing services. You will liaise with internal staff external organizations and agencies and members of the design / construction industry. In addition, you will also assist in compiling and updating Town standards and construction details applicable to park land and open space.


You must have a degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent complemented by a minimum of 4 years direct experience within the private or municipal government sector. You must be an associate or full member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects. You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage. You must be a team player with excellent communication skills and able to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external clients. You must have exceptional computer drafting and graphics skills and be proficient using AutoCAD 2015, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Reader, and Google SketchUp. Proficiency in Civil 3D 2015 is an asset.  The possession of a valid Ontario driver’s “G” license and access to a vehicle to carry out off-site visits when required is essential (mileage compensated). The successful candidate will be required to provide a current satisfactory driver’s abstract from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (M.T.O.) as well as proof of valid vehicle insurance.
