Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, IT Project Management Office, the IT Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple high priority, complex, long term, corporate wide projects. You will:

  • Provide the necessary project leadership to plan, manage, implement, and deliver complex technical solutions to successfully meet the requirements of the various lines of business to deliver and enhance IT services and build a positive, supportive and open culture
  • Develop project scope, define deliverables, build consensus and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Plan, implement and deliver business/system solutions within a complex and evolving team environment
  • Monitor project budgets on a regular basis
  • Manage multiple projects of high complexity, concurrently
  • Identify, evaluate, and document risks, issues, constraints and dependencies with projects
  • Document current state and future process workflows ensuring business participation and sign off
  • Author and finalize RFP documents for IT projects
  • Manage and coordinate project team resourcing
  • Implement effective change request process
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on project-related milestones and measurements, deliverables, risks and in accordance with IT PMO guidelines
  • Establish and maintain a consultative relationship with internal clients
  • Lead implementation planning
  • Supervise project staff and provide direction and coaching

Qualifications

  • A university degree in computer science, business administration or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 7 years of project management experience in implementing high complexity, business solutions including experience with business requirements gathering, project planning, project implementation and evaluation of projects
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • ITIL certification is an asset
  • LEAN, BABOK or other process requirements or process improvement certifications is an asset
  • Adaptable problem solver with solid leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Demonstrated project management expertise through planning and managing projects of increasing size and complexity 
  • Successful implementation of projects from project initiation, through to planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in cross-functional teams and to demonstrate a strong customer service orientation
  • Strong experience in IT vendor management
  • Successful track record of successful conflict management experiences
  • Successful experience in authoring, managing and awarding Requests for Proposals, Requests for Quotes and Requests for Information and implementing the respective solutions and/or services
  • Experience with mitigation of project risks and issues
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio
  • On-call/standby evenings and weekends are required – must be available to work evenings, weekends, flex shifts, extended hours and statutory holidays when required
  • You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated). You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
