Overview

Up to a maximum of 21 hours / week

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Cultural Services you will be responsible for the ongoing development and care of the Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame. This position will be responsible for conducting research on current and potential Sports Hall of Fame Inductees, creation of exhibits, marketing and promotion and assistance with the administration of the Sports Hall of Fame.   You will also be responsible for working with the committee to develop and deliver the annual Sport Awards event, Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and other events that bring awareness to the Sports Hall of Fame.  You will also provide administrative support to the Sports Hall of Fame Committee.  Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in Recreation and Leisure, Sports and Events Management or a related discipline, with an interest in athletics and sports and is complemented by 1 year of related experience
  • Current Emergency 1st Aid Certification
  • Proven experience in research, data collection and fact verification
  • Experience creating exhibits and displays for showcasing memorabilia and historical information
  • Experience developing marketing and promotional tools to generate interest and enthusiasm for the Sports Hall of Fame
  • Experience working with community organizations and volunteer boards
  • You are a team player with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and ability to prioritize are a requirement
  • Proficient computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheet and database management is necessary
  • Demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage
  • You must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and statutory holidays
  • You have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to your success in this role
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario Class "G2" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
  • You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
