Up to 24 hours / week 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Community Development Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing assistance with respect to the program and service delivery, specifically within the Community Development Section.  This position will be responsible for research, benchmarking trends and making recommendations related to community development and support for local community organizations and Not-for-profit groups.  This position will assist with building connections with the local community organizations to support their sustainability and developing partnerships.  This position will also assist with the development, promotion and delivery of community events including the farmers' market, Moonlight Movies and the Community Indoor Garage Sale.

Qualifications

  • Your Diploma in Recreation & Leisure, or related discipline is complemented by 2 years of related experience
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED Certification
  • Experience in marketing & promotion
  • Proven experience in research, data collection, analysis and fact verification

  • You are a team player with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with community groups, boards and executives
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and ability to prioritize are a requirement
  • Proficient computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheet and database management is necessary
  • Demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage
  • You must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and statutory holidays
  • You have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to your success in this role
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario Class "G2" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
  • You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
