SCHEDULE:  Monday to Friday – 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

                       April 30 - August 31, 2018


Reporting to the Manager, Urban Design & Heritage, the successful candidate will assist the Heritage & Urban Design Division with the creation of a consolidated document which includes: Identify specific architectural controls and urban design guidelines areas within the Town; Review and identify information in the guidelines that may require updating in accordance with the urban design policies as provided in the Town’s Official Plan; and, organize and digitalized guidelines and design control documents into a consolidated and accessible document. This position will also assist in activities such as, research and data collection, record existing conditions through site visits, photo documentation, Create mapping schedule and perform urban design analysis.  The successful candidate for this position will perform mainly office activities and may perform some field work duties.


  • Enrolled in a Graduate or Undergraduate Post-Secondary Program in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Geography or other related field
  • Standard First Aid & CPR certification would be considered an asset
  • Strong research, analysis, organizational, business writing and office administration skills are required
  • Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet, data base, word processing programs/applications is essential and experience in Adobe InDesign would be preferred
  • Ability to effectively handle demanding customer expectations and respond quickly to changing priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication and organizational skills are essential
  • Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary
  • You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage
  • Comfortable working outside (fieldwork)
  • Possess your own CSA certified steel toe safety boots for fieldwork
  • Possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license along with a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
  • The successful candidate will be asked to provide proof of insurance
