Contract (July 2018 to June 2020)
The Strategic Initiatives Division supports the Chief Administrative Officer in directing and championing the Town's long term strategic planning, corporate policy development,economic development strategy, corporate performance monitoring, organizational reviews, service improvement initiatives, development and implementation of grant strategies and inter-governmental affairs.
Reporting to the Manager, Grants and Strategic Initiatives, you will manage organizational service improvement and innovation projects as well as other special projects for the Town. Working with teams of staff at all levels from Town departments, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient project management of service improvement initiatives, organizational reviews, corporate performance monitoring and special projects, from conception to completion to ensure compliance with corporate policy and legislative requirements. This includes planning, managing, making recommendations and designing implementation strategies for each of these initiatives. Responsibilities of this position also includes developing appropriate responses to emerging issues of significance to the Town and leading cross department teams.
Your qualifications include a university degree in Public Administration or Planning or another related discipline along with seven years of relevant experience. You possess a broad knowledge of and experience in the public sector, preferably in municipal government. You also have substantial knowledge of business support operations in a municipal or other type of public sector environment. You have experience in corporate project management, research and analysis, service improvement and organizational reviews, and with quality and performance management systems. You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage. You have the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You have well-developed strategic and conceptual thinking abilities as well as interpersonal skills. You have excellent problem solving, strong facilitation skills and decision making skills. You have excellent organizational and communication skills and are technically proficient with the MS Office Suite and other relevant software. You must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated). You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire.
