  • Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Manager of Plans Review and Compliance, you will provide plans examination services for all building types to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other applicable regulations. You will ensure drawings are in compliance with the Ontario Building Code, regulations and all related design standards and provide assistance to junior staff with respect to drawing review and code interpretations. You will also work on special projects as assigned.


    • College diploma in an architectural or structural discipline
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a municipal building permit plans review environment
    • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (ideally Parts 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 11)
    • Certification from MMAH in the categories of House, HVAC House, Small Buildings, Large Buildings, Building Services, Complex Buildings, Detection Lighting and Power and On-Site Sewage
    • Plans review experience in all building types listed above
    • Completion of the MMAH Building Code courses considered an asset
    • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs
    • You demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care, and courage
    • Work well in a team environment
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
    • Preference will be given to applicants in possession of, or eligible for: MAATO, CET, OAA, P. Eng and or CBCO designations
    • In addition, you must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated).  You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
