Reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering (Stormwater Management and Subdivisions), the Grading Technician processes, investigates and resolves grading and drainage complaints under the Site Alteration By-Law, and performs technical review of engineering grading/servicing plans for Site Alteration Permits. Your duties include: PALIS database input and tracking, site inspection, grading plan review, circulation to other departments/agencies and issuance of permits. You will also be responsible for processing grading complaints associated with old and new subdivision development. In addition, you will participate in site inspection and meetings to facilitate resolution of complaints; recommend release or retention of permit securities, and respond to grading inquiries related to subdivision development and site alterations permits. You may also be required to provide assistance with processing Infill Residential Site Plan applications.
Your diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline is complemented by 3 years' related experience, and a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation. You are familiar with reading and interpreting standards, specifications and by-laws. This position requires a team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as, the capability to deal effectively with the public and meet deadlines. You demonstrate Richmond Hill's corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service. You must have a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and access to a vehicle to conduct site inspections (mileage compensated). You will be required to provide proof of valid vehicle insurance upon hire.
